National Instruments today announced six new switch modules featuring options for high-density matrices, multiplexers, general-purpose relays and RF applications.

The NI PXIe-2527, PXIe-2529, PXIe-2532, PXIe-2569, PXIe-2575 and PXIe-2593 switches, also available in PXI versions, can be placed in closer proximity to PXI Express instruments for improved system cabling and connectivity, which increases test system flexibility. In particular, high-throughput applications such as high-speed data streaming and RF record and playback, which benefit from the 1 GB/s dedicated per-slot bandwidth from PXI Express, can gain improved connectivity from these new switch modules. Test engineers can now choose from more than 100 switch topologies for increased equipment reuse and system scalability with the PXI platform, including PXI and PXI Express.

The new PXI Express switches include offerings for matrices, multiplexers and general-purpose relays. Matrices provide simplified wiring and are the most versatile type of switch, multiplexers help increase channel counts of a single instrument while reducing instrumentation costs and general-purpose relays commonly are used to turn devices on and off.

The new products are as follows:
•  NI PXIe-2527—32-channel (2-wire), 300 V multiplexer switch
•  NI PXIe-2529—128-crosspoint matrix switch
•  NI PXIe-2532—512-crosspoint matrix switch
•  NI PXIe-2569—100-channel, general-purpose SPST relays
•  NI PXIe-2575—196-channel multiplexer switch
•  NI PXIe-2593—16-channel, 500 MHz RF multiplexer/matrix

With their range of densities, these new switches can be used in a wide array of applications, from RF test to high-voltage industrial and general-purpose automated test, and in several industries including automotive and military/aerospace.

By developing switching systems with the PXI platform, test engineers can integrate and synchronise their switches and measurements through the PXI trigger backplane while providing low-cost channel expansion. All PXI modules including the new PXI Express switches are compatible with NI LabVIEW graphical development software and the NI LabWindows/CVI ANSI C development environment.

The NI PXIe-2527 is priced at Rs.68,532.73 ($1,399), the NI PXIe-2529 at Rs.1.03 lakh ($2,099), the NI PXIe-2532 at Rs.2.50 lakh ($5,099), the NI PXIe-2569 at Rs.83,228.81 ($1,699), the NI PXIe-2575 at Rs.88,127.51 ($1,799) and the NI PXIe-2593 at Rs.90,576.85 ($1,849).
