Keywords:PSoC  RS-232  CY3210

This application note by Cypress demonstrates how to use PSoC to read information from a PC application through RS-232, save it to ROM (Flash), and scroll the information across an LCD.

The primary objective of this application note is to illustrate how to write data to the PSoC's ROM through an RS-232 connection. In this project, the data is written from a PC, but a microcontroller can also be used. This project can easily be implemented on the CY3210-PSoC Eval1 development board with a CY8C27x43 part. Another objective is to read the data from ROM and display it on the LCD. An algorithm is written to add a scrolling capability to the LCD.

The RX8 User Module is an asynchronous RS-232 data format compliant 8-bit serial receiver with programmable clocking. The format of the received data consists of a start bit, an optional parity bit, and a trailing stop bit
