NEI said that its AC-specified N-1500 R2 platform has received the Network Equipment Building Systems' (NEBS) Level 3 certification. The server is designed to meet the demand for high reliability, long-life deployments in AC-powered environments.

The new server offers telecommunication equipment manufacturers (TEMs) greater deployment choices using the company's full line of carrier-grade solutions to open new market opportunities, accelerate time-to-market and deliver leading-edge performance.

The N-1500 R2 features dual- or quad-core Intel Xeon processors and up to 24GB of memory. It also offers three hot-swap 2.5-inch SAS drives and a full height/length PCI-X or PCIe slot.

"The N-1500 R2 is impressive from both a functionality and performance point-of-view," said Eric Heikkila, director, embedded hardware and systems, VDC Research. "Having met NEBS' rigorous operational and environmental tests, the N-1500 R2 is poised to allow VARs, ISVs, network equipment manufacturers and OEMs to deploy robust, long-life communications solutions with value-add services at a lower price point by reducing time-to-market and maximising return on investment."
