Scopes claim top signal integrity performance, connectivity

An additional third-level "Advanced Search and Mark" software trigger complements this hardware trigger. The new Serial Data Link Analysis (SDLA) application toolset, meanwhile, addresses the challenges posed by higher data rates such as channel impairments (S-Parameter) and higher interdependencies between transmitter, receiver and interconnect.

DPO/DSA70000B also boasts uncompromised acquisition with its 20GHz 4-channel probes, currently the industry's highest in terms of bandwidth. Tektronix also claims that, with the lowest noise floor in the industry (approximately 20 per cent lower than the alternative), highest effective number of bits (ENOB) and flattest frequency response, the scopes are able to meet very high signal fidelity requirements and allow a wider margin for the test to pass.

"The architecture of the Tektronix DPO/DSA70000B Series oscilloscopes is meticulously designed to address S/N issue, an important ENOB factor, and minimise errors from the other sources. The all-important acquisition board uses proprietary components and innovative layout and interconnect techniques, all implemented under rigorous manufacturing process control. There is an emphasis on signal fidelity at all frequencies," said Sun.

The product family features advanced connectivity with its TriMode probes that ease setup time with three probes in one. "The expanded Tektronix P7500 probing family now offers performance probes for 4, 6 and 8 GHz in addition to the previously available ultra-performance probes at 13, 16 and 20 GHz, all providing superior signal fidelity with fast rise time, low circuit loading and unique patented TriMode measurement switching," according to Sun.

The DPO/DSA70000B also includes DDRA V2.0 analysis software that can solve sophisticated memory signalling issues and can, for instance, identify timestamps/navigation of all read/write bursts.

Furthermore, Tektronix's SpeedBooster programme, provides options for "B" series customers to upgrade bandwidth from 4GHz to 6, 8 to 20GHz. "This enables engineers to purchase what they need today, and easily increase the bandwidth of their instrument as test requirements change in the future, thus protecting their initial investment," said Sun.
