From Texas Instruments Inc. comes a low-power stereo audio codec that enables CD quality playback and extends battery life in portable products such as cell phones, portable navigation devices and portable media players.

The TLV320AIC3107 codec integrates a stereo headphone amplifier and mono Class-D speaker amplifier to substantially reduce board area and cost by 20 per cent when compared to discrete solutions.

The codec features 8- to 96KSps stereo DAC with 97dB SNR) and 8- to 96KSps ADC with 92dB SNR. The device also has a low power consumption of 15mW at 48kHz with a 3.3V analogue supply. Its integrated mono Class-D speaker amplifier is capable of driving 1W into 8Ω load. In addition, the TLV320AIC3107 has a low impedance passive analogue switch, an integrated PLL as well multiple inputs and outputs programmable in single-ended or fully differential configurations.

The TLV320AIC3107 is available in a space-saving 5mm x 5mm QFN-40 package for Rs.192.64 ($3.85) in 1,000-piece quantities. A 3.5mm x 3mm WCSP package will be available in Q1 09.
