Keywords:PsoC  MCU  Real-Time Clock

The PsoC MCU has the capabilities to implement a Real-Time Clock (RTC). This functionality can be run on a PSoC MCU as a stand-alone function, or can be integrated into an existing application. The only requirement of the timekeeping code presented in this application note by Cypreess Semiconductor is that it be called once per second to update the current time of day and date. Stand-Alone RTCs on the market have a number of similarities with the PSoC MCU, and some notable differences. The designer must be aware of these issues to determine if the PSoC will be suitable as an RTC for their particular application.
