Web coating systems suit solar cell production

Veeco said the FastFlex web deposition platform consists of three systems—one for the transparent conductive oxide utilising reactive sputtering, one for metal deposition with sputtering and one for the CIGS layer. FastFlex systems can process web widths up to 350mm with an architecture that supports widths of 1m or more for metal or polyimide substrates, according to the company. The systems offer high throughput and can be configured to suit specific needs, Veeco said.

"Our CIGS systems can be tailored to our customers' requirements and help drive down their cost per watt," said Piero Sferlazzo, senior VP of Veeco's solar equipment unit, in a statement.
