SiTel Semiconductor has launched a range of cordless voice modules (CVMs) for VoIP applications in internet access devices (IADs) and cable modem base stations. Containing all necessary hardware and software, the module allows manufacturers to add cordless telephony into their DSL or cable modem application without requiring RF or DECT design knowledge. The module's software can be regularly updated to keep pace with the CAT-iq standard.

SiTel says that CVM480 PCM is a flexible CAT-iq/DECT 6.0 solution that can be integrated into any IAD on the market using standard codec interfaces. It is based on SiTel's SC14480 base band IC and CAT-iq software, optimised for IAD and cable modem applications. The module delivers voice quality through G.722 wideband audio.

Flash, RAM and ROM versions of the CVM are slated for release. The flash version is already in volume production and development kits are available.
