A major shift in cyber crime is prompting everyone from IT companies to systems managers to boost their anti-hacking precautions. But no matter how many firewalls, intrusion detection software and anti-virus programs you have, hackers will find a way to get through. This article suggests that you start with a software architecture that embraces fundamental principles of security, such as separation of privilege, fail-safe defaults, complete mediation, and economy of mechanism.
