SKY Computers Inc. has introduced their latest line of LightningBolt embedded computers. Claiming to be the next-generation embedded computers, these 6U LightningBolt VME boards are targeted for harsh environments, and are expected to deliver high levels of scalability, reliability and price/performance for demanding applications.

The LightningBolt utilizes the SKYvec software development environment to simplify complex multi-processor programming, and is configured with one compute module of four MPC7448s and one optional I/O module.

It also utilizes a 1.2GHz Power PC MPC 7448 microprocessor and ANSI/VITA standard SKYchannel interconnect fabric, and is fully compatible with the previous SKYbolt family for easy upgrades.

Features include 38.4 GFLOPS per 6U VME slot, boot time of less than 10s, up to 64 processors/system, and up to 2GB SDRAM per 6U module.

Price range begins at Rs.806.48 ($20) with quantity discounts. The devices will ship in Q3 08.
