Agilent Technologies Inc. vies for another industry first with its optical/electrical module that provides unfiltered bandwidth and reference receiver capabilities for 100G Ethernet signals (implemented as four lanes each in the 25.8-27.7Gbps range) and 16X Fibre Channel (17Gbps single-mode variants) signals. The two-in-one module featuring unfiltered optical bandwidth to 45GHz and reference receiver capabilities accelerates design cycle and product validation testing. Line-rate-specific reference receivers make compliance measurements more consistently.

The Agilent 86116C Option 025 module, used in Agilent's 86100C DCA-J wideband oscilloscope mainframe, allows engineers to investigate, design and verify the performance of transceivers that terminate optical fibres for next-generation LAN and storage area networks (SAN).

Option 025 works with 1,310nm and 1,550nm single-mode transmitters and has 45GHz optical and 93GHz electrical unfiltered bandwidth. Also, engineers need sufficient unfiltered bandwidth to troubleshoot designs and improve manufacturing yields.

Agilent 86116C Option 025 is now available at a starting price of Rs.24.19 lakh ($60,000). The required Agilent 86100C DCA-J firmware revision 8.0 will be available in June.
