Using a power-distribution switch to drive LEDs
Keywords:power-distribution switch LED driving application current-limiting power-distribution switch
High-powered LEDs are used in a growing number of applications, including automotive lighting, camera-phone flash, entertainment lighting, location lighting, landscape lighting, flashlights, bicycle lights and driving lights, just to name a few. This article discusses the various technical aspects of using a power-distribution switch for a LED driving application.
Currently, a current-limiting power-distribution switch represents one of a designer's best choices for driving an LED. This is because a power-distribution switch provides easy operation and greater control over distributing power to various loads in a system. The switch has simple function: to allow current to flow to the load, or to prevent current flow to the load, based on whether the switch is enabled or disabled.
