Reports circulated in the weekend that Toshiba Corp. would likely delay the construction of a new flash memory plant, which is originally set for the end of the year. Cited as the factor for the delay is the worsening market conditions, reports the Nikkei Business Daily on Jan. 26.

Toshiba currently runs three NAND flash memory facilities in Mie prefecture, with a fourth plant set for completion in July, reports Nikkei. The Japanese company has been searching for a location for plant no. 5 but Toshiba has to postpone efforts for it could not justify the hundreds of billions of investments under current market scenario, says the report. No word from Toshiba yet on these reports.
