DivX Inc. and Advanced Micro Devices have signed a licensing agreement that will allow AMD to include DivX video technology in its Xilleon processors to power next-generation DTVs worldwide.

The two companies will work together to achieve DivX Certification for specific AMD Xilleon processors. Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience, including reliable video playback, interoperability with other DivX Certified devices and the visual quality users expect from DivX.

"DivX video is a highly attractive feature that we believe complements AMD technology to offer real value to our DTV OEM customers and consumers," said Dave Di Orio, corporate VP and general manager for AMD's DTV Division.

"Our goal is to create a seamless media experience where consumers can enjoy high-quality video on any kind of device, and AMD is an excellent partner to help realise that vision," said Kevin Hell, CEO of DivX. "DTVs are an increasingly important element of the 'three screens' that define the digital media experience today?the PC, the TV and the mobile device, and we believe our agreement with AMD will help improve the media experience for consumers."
