EC approves Emerson-Motorola deal

The European antitrust regulators has approved Emerson Electric Co.'s acquisition of Motorola Inc.'s embedded communications and computing business for Rs.1,384.24 crore ($350 million), according to an Associated Press report.

The European Commission said in a statement that the deal will not hamper effective competition. The companies announced the agreement in September and expect to complete the transaction by the end of the year.

Considered as one of the biggest deals in embedded systems segment, market research group Venture Development Group said that the merger will be a good deal, not only for both parties, but for the entire embedded industry, particularly the xTCA segment.
