Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs disclosed in a statement at the company Website that the iPhone will be open for native third party applications and that the company plans to have a software development kit (SDK) in developers' hands by February next year.

Jobs explained the company will only be able to release the SDK in February because they are trying to provide an advanced and open platform to developers while at the same time protect iPhone users from viruses, malware, privacy attacks, etc.

The company will establish a third party developer community around the mobile phone to enable new applications for the users. The SDK will also allow developers to create applications for iPod touch.
