Oki introduces three times flexible thin printed circuit

Oki Electric Cable has developed a thin highly flexible printed circuit (FPC) that it claims is three times more flexible than conventional FPCs, enabling wiring in tight spaces. The FPC is suitable for applications that require higher density of components for advanced functionality.

"This FPC will now enable all types of wiring to be bent or folded for use in tight space," said Takashi Hattori, president of Oki Electric Cable. "With this FPC, we will contribute to the achievement of thinner and lighter digital electronics, medical and industrial equipment, and automotive systems, since such equipment requires higher density of components for advanced functionality."

According to Oki, the FPC can bend flexibly as if it were an Origami and can readily conform to non-flat surfaces. It can be folded up to 60 million times with a 3mm bent radius.

The FPC is now available worldwide.
