In expansion to its 32-bit ARM9-based STR910F family, STMicroelectronics NV has released six new flash MCUs that promises to deliver optimised system performance. The new set have Ethernet, USB and CAN interfaces as well as on-chip SRAM up to 96KB and flash memory up to 544KB.

In an Autobench test suite from the Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC), the STR910FA registered "an average of 25 per cent better than those of the STR910F, indicating improved overall system performance due to improved flow of instructions to the CPU." According to EEMBC, the STR910FA also registered an average performance gain of 36 per cent over competing flash ARM7-based MCUs for the same Autobench tests.

All devices operate between -40°C and +85°C, ST concluded.

Prices for ST's new STR910F MCU series start at Rs.203.52 ($4.98) in quantities of 10,000.
