Atmel Corp. has developed what it claims is the industry's first 1Mbit serial EEPROM in an 8-lead TSSOP (4.4mm) package, using its advanced EEPROM technology.

The AT24C1024B device is the newest member of the two-wire family of products designed with Atmel's advanced EEPROM technology. Previously, the highest available density was 512Kbit. The AT24C1024B is also available in an SO8 narrow body and 150mil JEDEC SOIC (3.8mm) and features a two-wire protocol with clock frequency up to 1MHz.

AT24C1024B features two input addresses which provides designers with maximum flexibility to cascade up to four AT24C1024B devices on the same bus, thus increasing overall storage density by up to 4Mbit.

AT24C1024B operates on a 1.8-5.5V supply and is suited for different consumer, industrial and medical applications. The TSSOP package enables manufacturers of digital cameras, game cards, PDAs and other portable consumer products to increase the memory capacity for storage, while offering slimmer and lighter products.

AT24C1024B is available now. Pricing starts at Rs.69.47 ($1.70) each for 10,000-unit pieces. Both the 8-lead JEDEC SOIC and 8-lead TSSOP are offered in Pb-free (green), halogen-free and RoHS compliant packaging with high reliability NiPdAu finish.
