Single chip receiver offers multi-standard base band

Frontier Silicon has developed a single-chip receiver for T-DMB and DAB-IP broadcasts. Available in a SiP, the Paradiso 1T (FS1032) integrates the Paradiso multi-standard base band IC with an RF tuner and ancillary passive components.

The FS1032 employs Frontier Silicon's digiSHIELD technology. When two dies are stacked closely together, the coupling of clock noise and digital interference from a base band die to the RF tuner is magnified.

Frontier Silicon's digiSHIELD technology has neutralised this, applying noise suppression techniques to minimise coupling, maximising RF sensitivity and adjacent channel rejection performance.

The SiP offers handset makers performance that exceeds CENELEC (EN50248) requirements, including power consumption of less than 140mW with a significantly reduced footprint and component count.

Paradiso 1T supports all modes of DAB, T-DMB and DAB-IP—mobile TV broadcasting standards that are currently in commercial use.

The device is currently sampling. Mass production starts Q3 2007.
