The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and Ernst & Young have concluded in a study that increasing enthusisam for globalisation coupled with government initiatives for liberalisation of its regulatory environment towards private investments, have inspired 40 U.S. Venture Capitalists (VCs) and Private Equity holders (PEs) to raise capital up to Rs.1,760.10 crore ($400 million)?and place it primarily in start ups in India.

The Study called "Indian PE/VC Market Firing on all Cylinders ? Liquidity all round" reports that VCs like Intel, Cisco, Motorola, Sequioa Capital and Oak Investment Partners have successfully generated Rs.1,760.10 crore to invest in India as its market has developed appetite for innovations and entrepreneurship across various industry verticals.

ASSOCHAM and E&Y have jointly forecast that the number of such VCs would more than double in U.S. alone and multiply many fold for India in the year 2007 and 2008 as companies, private equity holders and VCs across the globe are growing enthusiastic to invest in India.

On account of sustained annual GDP growth of eight to nine per cent and high growth momentum in certain sectors, including IT, telecommunications, high-end manufacturing and others, international investors have renewed their interest back in India, according to the ASSOCHAM. Investments reached Rs.9,680.57 crore ($2.2 billion) in 2005, a growth of 38 per cent over 2004 and set a record of Rs.33,001.94 crore ($7.5 billion) in 2006 to grow about 300 per cent over the previous year.
