Hybrid linear actuator targets motion control apps

Haydon Motion Europe offers its size 8 hybrid linear actuators with encoder feedback. Suitable for both high- and low-volume motion control applications, the encoder module incorporates a lensed LED light source and monolithic photodetector array with signal shaping electronics to produce two-channel bounceless TTL outputs. The internal monolithic electronic module converts the real-time position, speed, and direction into TTL compatible outputs.

The encoder is offered in resolutions ranging from 120 to 330 cycles per revolution (CPR) or 480 to 1200 pulses per revolution (PPR). The operating temperature range is -10°C to 85°C. The compact optical incremental encoder design is available with two-channel quadrature TTL squarewave outputs.

These linear actuators occupy a 21mm square space and are available in a wide variety of resolutions ranging from.0015mm per step to 0.04mm per step and deliver thrusts of up to 10lbs. without compromising long life and cost, said Haydon. These models can also be micro-stepped for even finer resolution.

Applications requiring precise positioning and rapid motion are best suited for this motor, said the company. Custom designs are available. Pricing ranges from Rs.2,200 to Rs.6,600 ($50-$150).
