FDK DC/DC converters deliver 180W

FDK Corp. released the Sensei series converters, which provide up to 180W of output power with minimal derating at elevated temperatures. The FPQR48T01215 and FPQR48T01214 isolated converters are designed for intermediate bus architecture and distributed power architecture in telecommunications, data processing, computing, and storage applications, which require a regulated 12V distribution bus.

The Sensei series converters operate from a 36Vdc to 75Vdc input and provide a regulated 12Vdc output. FPQR48T01215 and FPQR48T01214 deliver up to 15A and 14A, respectively, with efficiencies in excess of 91 per cent. The FPQR48T01214 converter is suitable for high-density card-rack applications where available clearances can go down to 0.39-inch.

Both converters feature input under-voltage lockout, output over-current protection, output over-voltage protection, over-temperature protection, remote output voltage sense and output voltage trim using industry-standard trim equations. The converters meet the basic insulation requirements of EN60950 and feature input-to-output dc isolation of 1500Vdc.

In addition, the Sensei series converters deliver full-rated output current, with little or no derating, at high ambient temperatures without the need for heat sinks. With a 48Vdc input, the converters provide output current in temperatures up to 60°C, with 400 linear feet/minute airflow.

They FPQR48T01215 and FPQR48T01214 are available in 2.28-by-1.45-inch industry-standard quarter-brick footprint and pin-out, with low body profiles and are RoHS-compliant. Pricing is at Rs.2,073.64 ($47) each in 1,000-piece quantities.
