MMIC LNA, frequency multiplier suits fibre-optics apps

Hittite Microwave Corp. has introduced a GaAs PHEMT MMIC low-noise AGC amplifier and a GaAs MMIC x2 active frequency multiplier for point-to-point and point-to-multi-point radios, VSAT, telecommunications, test instrumentation, radar, military EW/ECM, space and fibre-optics applications.

The HMC463LH250 GaAs PHEMT MMIC low noise distributed amplifier with gain control operates from 2GHz to 20GHz. It provides 13dB of gain, a 3dB noise figure and 18dBm of output power at 1dB compression, while drawing only 60mA from a 5V supply. Housed in a hermetic surface-mount package, the HMC463LH250 exhibits excellent gain flatness of ±0.5dB from 2-14GHz, making it suitable for EW, ECM, radar, test equipment and other high-reliability applications. The HMC463LH250 may also be screened up to MIL-PRF-38535 for Class B or Class S applications.

The HMC561LP3(E) broadband GaAs PHEMT x2 active frequency multiplier is housed in a leadless 3-by-3mm RoHS-compliant QFN package. When driven by a 5dBm signal, the multiplier provides 14dBm typical output power from 8-21GHz and Fo and 3Fo isolation of 15dBc at 16GHz. The HMC561LP3 also exhibits low additive SSB phase noise of -139dBc/Hz at 100kHz, making it suitable for use in LO multiplier chains for point-to-point and VSAT radios.
