Multi-core processors suit China market, says IntellaSys

On the first day of 12th Annual International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China), U.S.-based multi-core developer IntellaSys Corp. announced an embedded CPU with up to 40 cores and its plans to release an embedded CPU with up to 100 cores. The company also demonstrated three products—the SEAforth multi-core processor, Indigita content safety protection processor and OnSpec safety storage controller.

Attending IIC-China for the first time, Joseph Wang, IntellaSys Asia-Pacific sales vice president, said they saw the opportunities the show opened for the company. Aside from conducting demonstrations at the event, Wang also went onstage to speak about scalable embedded arrays for advanced consumer electronics.

Wang said he sees China as a good application foreground for their multiple processors. He believes that the technology is suitable for the customers in the region. He added that IntellaSys plans to tie up with top Chinese universities to introduce their technology and train potential customers as well attract cooperation with software design houses in developing tools.

Wang also disclosed that IntellaSys will likely set up a design centre in Shenzhen by Q4 this year, after the company releases its 40-core processor by the middle of 2007.
