CSR has released a high-speed, high-accuracy embedded GPS software product for mobile positioning. The E5000 software delivers a very short Time To First Fix (TTFF), enhanced tracking accuracy, a small footprint and low power consumption.

The E5000 GPS solution is software-based so it requires no additional hardware beyond a RF front-end, which translates into half the power requirements and significantly less space than competing hardware GPS solutions, said the company. The E5000 software is available for multiple OS and various hardware platforms and enables flexible application and service delivery.

CSR will showcase the E5000 at 3GSM World Congress on a number of platforms including the 3DLABS multi-media processor and Samsung's 2440 personal navigation device (PND) platform. In addition, the company will demonstrate its high-sensitivity, A-GPS solutions with its global GPS assistance server supporting standardised secure user plane location (SUPL) for use in mobile handsets.
