Hitachi postpones decision on building new plant
Keywords:Hitachi flat TV plasma display
Hitachi Ltd will postpone a decision on building its next plasma display factory by year-end instead of its initial plan to reach a decision by March, according to a Reuter's report. Driving this is the continuing slash in flat TV prices.
Hitachi spokesman Masayuki Takeuchi said that in turn, the company will meet segment demand by doubling its annual capacity to 40 lakh panels through its two plants in Miyazaki, Japan. Pioneer Corp., another panel maker, also announced the delay of the construction of its new plasma display factory due to dramatic price cuts in the segment.
