EDA provider Magma Design Automation Inc. has moved to facilities in India and the U.S. in anticipation of expanding staff and operations in both regions.

The company's Bangalore, India operation is moving to a new 40,000 square foot facility. It's one of three facilities that Magma currently has in India, including Noida and Mumbai, which was added with the November 2006 acquisition of Knights Technology. Magma has over 200 employees in India and expects to expand "significantly" in this region, according to the company.

Meanwhile, in the United States, Magma is relocating its corporate headquarters from Santa Clara, Calif. to new offices in San Jose, California.

"The new facilities in Bangalore and Mumbai enhance further our ability to attract an increasing number of the talented engineers in India who will play a key role in developing products that fully address the RTL-to-silicon design flow and allow our users to reduce the turnaround time and costs of nanometer semiconductor design," said Roy Jewell, chief operating officer, Magma Design Automation Pvt. Ltd. "A globally distributed product development and support network gives Magma access to talent anywhere in the world to ensure our customers' success."

As per Magma's announcements, it will employ 25 per cent of its total workforce in India. The company is targeting Rs.802.16 crore ($177 million) this year out of which it expects India to contribute about Rs.45.32 crore ($10 million).
