Murata Electronics North America has developed a miniature chip inductor in a 01005 package size. Measuring 0.4-by-0.2-by-0.2mm, the LQP02TN series chip inductors offer a 40 per cent reduction in mounting space when compared to 0201-packaged devices.

By leveraging Murata's advanced micro-fabrication technology and optimising the internal coil formation, the passive component maker said it was able to push the miniaturisation envelope with the new inductor design, which enables the development of smaller, lower profile products. The LQP02TN series is suitable for use in high-frequency circuits found in compact mobile equipment such as cellular phones (power amplifier/antenna/voltage controlled oscillators/surface acoustic wave/Bluetooth, etc.), digital TV tuners and WLAN devices.

The LQP02TN series features high Q characteristics and stable inductance despite the footprint reduction. The inductance value range is 0.4nH to 10nH with a tolerance of?0.3nH/?five per cent. The series is RoHS-compliant.

Samples are priced at Rs.2.27 (5 cents). Delivery is approximately six to eight weeks.
