802.11n devices achieve 300Mbps data transfer rates

SMC Networks has announced that the first in its line of wireless networking products that comply with the 802.11n draft v1.0 specification for wireless networking are shipping and available.

Designed to excel in demanding applications like gaming, high-definition video streaming, file sharing and VoIP, these draft 802.11n products are capable of achieving data transfer rates of up to 300Mbps—25-times the rate of standard 802.11b devices and 5-times the rate of 802.11g.

The SMC Barricade N Wireless 4-port Broadband Router (SMCWBR14-N) is an all-in-one networking solution for connecting wired or 802.11b, g, or n wireless devices to share cable or DSL connections. This platform-independent, multi-function router combines a 4-port 10/100Mbps LAN switch with Automatic MDI-MDIX and a wireless access point (AP) that supports speeds up to 300Mbps.
