Mosaid Technologies Inc. has acquired a portfolio of pseudo-SRAM (PSRAM) technology, consisting of three U. S. patents, three Taiwan patents and three Korea patents. Mosaid obtained the patents from a private company for an undisclosed amount.

On Nov. 30, Mosaid filed a motion to include one of its newly acquired patents—U.S. patent number 6,847,573—on its lawsuit against Micron Technology Inc. in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division. The proposed amended complaint now alleges infringement of 12 U.S. patents of Mosaid, the additional patent being asserted against Micron's PSRAM products.

"The acquisition of patents is a key strategy for broadening the reach of our patent licensing program," said John Lindgren, MOSAID's senior VP, patent licensing and general counsel. "The addition of these patents strengthens the coverage of our patent portfolio in the growing PSRAM market."

PSRAM devices are used in mobile devices like cell phones. The global PSRAM market is projected to hit Rs.9,559.20 crore ($2.1 billion) by this year's end, up 50 per cent from 2005, according to Gartner Dataquest.
