Lowering the entry cost for a high-performance PXI system, National Instruments (NI) is rolling out its PXI-1033 chassis with integrated MXI-Express remote controller. As part of the company's thrust to lower the cost of test, NI's PXI-1033 chassis takes advantage of COTS technologies to reduce the cost required to start a PXI system.

The chassis provides five peripheral slots and includes a host card to control the system from either a desktop or laptop. With the integrated MXI-Express controller, you can achieve up to 110Mbps sustained throughput to your host PC.

The PXI-1033 chassis features compact, rugged packaging, as well as quiet acoustic operation. Acoustic noise is as low as 38dBA. The PXI-1033 chassis offers an AUTO/HIGH fan-speed selector that provides a HIGH fan setting to maximise cooling and AUTO fan setting to minimise acoustic emissions.

When set in AUTO, the PXI-1033 chassis monitors air intake temperature and adjusts fan speed. These features make the 1033 suitable for both portable and desktop ATE systems.

The PXI-1033 chassis works with all existing PXI modules, including PXI DAQ devices and modular instruments from NI. It also integrates with a variety of software, including NI's popular LabVIEW graphical development environment, LabWindows/CVI software for ANSI C development, SignalExpress interactive measurement software, and NI TestStand test management software.
