Tektronix to acquire active probe test solution provider

Tektronix Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Minacom, a provider of active probe test solutions used by telecommunications carriers, cable multi-system operators (MSOs), wireless and VoIP providers. The transaction will involve approximately Rs.124.77 crore ($27 million), and is expected to close within a month.

According to Tektronix, Canada-based Minacom's active test solutions complement its network monitoring systems. The combined products of the companies is expected to provide an integrated end-to-end next generation network (NGN) and service quality test platform, enabling rapid identification, localisation and quantification of service and network issues at all points from the core to the edge of the network.

"This acquisition will enable Tektronix to offer both active and passive probing capabilities for modern and legacy networks," said Rich McBee, senior VP and general manager at Tektronix Communications Business. "The integration of these products into one solution will accelerate delivery of our product roadmaps in key areas such as IP voice, video and data services and for access and edge network service management."
