India hosts Asian symposium on displays for the first time

The 9th Asian Symposium on Information Display (ASID) opened last Sunday in New Delhi and will run until October 12. Organised primarily by the IIT, IISc to establish nanoelectronics centres" target=_blank>Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and by the Society for Information Display (SID), this symposium focuses on providing display researchers, especially those in Asia, a convenient environment to exchange information and showcase new technologies.

The conference will have 203 presentations and five keynote addresses by industry experts. It will also feature 32 papers and 45 contributed oral papers. The papers have been organised according to technology such as CRTs, LCDs and PDPs, and emerging technologies such as organic LEDs and field emission displays.

On the first day, representatives from Marvell Semiconductors, Samtel and Honeywell conducted tutorials on signal processing, advances in CRTs and AM-LCDs, respectively.

Other event exhibitors include Videocon, Teknek, Unitek, Pixel Works, Jobin Yvon Horiba, AUO, Hindhivac, Phoenix PDE and KritiKal Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

Previously held in other key Asian cities such as Hong Kong, Nanjing, Nanjing, Hsinchu, Seoul, Hamamatsu and Singapore, ASID has become one of the major regional display conferences organized by the SID.
