Optimax to invest Rs.46.44 crore in Suzhou facility

Taiwan's Optimax Technology Corp., a manufacturer of LCD polarizers, will invest around Rs.46.44 crore ($10 million) in its new facility in Suzhou, China, according to a filing at the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).

The company's Suzhou plant has started construction, and volume production is scheduled to begin in Q2 of 2007. The facility will initially manufacture polarizers for PCs, and will eventually make polarizers for TV receivers. Optimax said that the total capacity of the plant has not been finalized as of date.

According to its TSE filing, Optimax's net profits reached Rs.28.33 crore ($6.1 million) in the first half of the year, with Q1 profits hitting Rs.66.78 crore ($14.38 million).
