Hackers access info of AT&T customers

Personal information, including credit card data, of thousands of AT&T customers was stolen by hackers over the weekend, reported CNN early this week.

The breach, which affected customers who purchased DSL equipment through AT&T's web store, was said to have been discovered within hours. AT&T had its online store shut down immediately, the report said.

"We deeply regret this incident and we intend to pay for credit monitoring services for customers whose accounts have been impacted. We will work closely with law enforcement to bring these data thieves to account," Priscilla Hill-Ardoin, chief privacy officer for AT&T, said in the report.
