IBM opens contest for engineering students

According to a news report in The Hindu, IBM has launched a contest called "The Great Mind Challenge". As a part of the contest 10,000 students in India's 250 engineering and MCA colleges will develop software based on various projects.

The contest aims at improving the software development skills of Indian students as they work to solve issues facing businesses today.

The registrations will be open to all the engineering and MCA college students through a website and direct mailers to the student community across India. The programme will continue through the end of this year.

Prizes for the winning teams include high-end personal computers, iPods and USB MP3 players.
