Keywords:LM5009  switching regulator  National Semiconductor

National Semiconductor Corp. has introduced the LM5009, a monolithic step-down switching regulator. The device is capable of driving up to a 150mA load over a 9V- to 100V-input voltage range.

The regulator is suitable for use in 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V rectified AC systems, 42V automotive solutions and non-isolated AC charge-coupled supplies. It also can be used as a heat sink eliminator for a classic linear regulator and as an LED current source.

The LM5009 includes the following features: an integrated 100V, 1.15-ohm negative-channel MOSFET for component count sourcing; 150mA output current capability; Up to 600 kHz operation; two per cent accurate 2.5V feedback from -40°C to 125°C; external shutdown control for use in system management functionality; and protection circuitry that includes intelligent current limit protection and thermal shutdown.

Available in an MSOP-8 or a thermally-enhanced LLP package, the LM5009 is priced at Rs.46.99 ($1.05) in 1,000-unit quantities.
