HDMI switches tackle multi-sink video apps

Pericom Semiconductor Corp. expanded its high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) switch portfolio with four differential signal switch solutions for multi-source or multi-sink video applications such as TV, monitor, STB, switch box and KVM.

The PI3HDMI412-A, PI3HDMI412-B, PI3HDMI412FT and PI3HDMI413 are high-bandwidth differential switch devices used to transfer high-speed HDMI and DVI digital video signals from source to display. Housed in lead-free and green packaging, these solutions aim to provide high bandwidth, low signal degradation, high ESD tolerance and are fully compliant to the HDMI standard.

"Pericom was the first vendor to offer a HDMI signal switch solution that would allow users to switch between multiple high-speed sources or between multiple high-speed displays," said Shaf Rahman, director of switch and interface marketing at Pericom. "With PI3HDMI413 for example, customers can switch between three independent HDMI video sources to a single LCD TV screen."

The devices are lead-free and in full production and the prices range from Rs.66.38 ($1.50) to Rs.99.56 ($2.25) in 10,000 unit quantities.
