FCI designs headers for multi-lane SATA/SAS cables
Keywords:headers I/O controller card SAS serial ATA FCI
FCI has developed 32-position, vertical and right-angle headers to connect multi-lane serial ATA or SAS cables between I/O controller cards and backplanes for disc storage arrays in storage enclosures or servers.
The multi-lane headers provide the mating interface to cable assemblies that conform to the SFF-8484 specification. The connectors can support up to four serial lanes of serial ATA or SAS signals and required sideband signals. The high-speed, serial interface is designed to support differential signalling at speeds of 3Gbps.
The vertical headers are available with through-hole solder, press-fit or surface-mount terminations, and the right-angle headers are offered in through-hole solder termination. All headers feature stamped retention clips that provide additional mechanical strength and stability after the connectors are soldered to the host board. The cable end on a multi-lane cable also connects to these clips to secure the cable end and protect against accidental unmating. These headers are RoHS compliant.
Typical prices are in the range of Rs.44.25 ($1) to Rs.79.65 ($1.80) each in quantities of 2,000. Samples are available for delivery with production lead times from stock to seven weeks.
