Tata Elxsi joins Symbian programme

Tata Elxsi has announced that it has joined the Symbian Platinum Program to support the growing market for smart phones based on Symbian OS. As a Platinum Partner, Tata Elxsi is extending its mobile computing based design services and solutions to the Symbian OS ecosystem. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the operating system that powers smart phones.

"This partnership reflects our intent to support product development solutions and services that enable significant development cost benefits and faster time to market across various technology verticals in general and players in Symbian eco system in particular." said Mr.Madhukar Dev, chief executive officer, Tata Elxsi. "We welcome the support provided by the Symbian Platinum Program to help leverage Tata Elxsi's visibility in the enterprise, device manufactures and mobile carrier market places."

Tata Elxsi leverages its expertise in 2G and 3G wireless technologies like GSM/GPRS/UMTS and its extensive full - lifecycle product design experience including silicon and software, to develop board support packages, device drivers, radio hardware specifics, protocol stacks, firmware, middleware, data connectivity, lightweight applications and testing for wireless devices. Its development expertise extends across various RTOS such as Symbian, Linux, J2ME, SmartPhone 2003, BREW, PalmOS, Win CE and J2ME and includes application development such as PTT, MMS, SMS, E-mail, OMA–DM, Sync ML, etc. The expertise further extends to providing pioneering solutions for next generation and converging communication technologies
