C&D Technologies has launched a DC/DC converter that is aimed to simplify the design and implementation of power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications. According to C&D, the HHS04-520 module is able to generate the optimum isolated hub voltage to power at least 13 PoE-enabled devices. This number can be increased for devices taking less than the maximum allowed power of 12.95W, or if cable runs are short, added the company.

The HHS04-520 complies with the IEEE802.3af standard that stipulates requirements like start-up characteristics and low-noise for equipment to be used in PoE and IP telephony applications.

This module delivers an efficiency of 92 per cent at 52.5V, 200W output; and features an input voltage range of 36V to 75V; an industry standard pin-out; 2250Vdc isolation; an open frame design and a heatsink attach option.

Also included in the features of the DC/DC converter are remote sense, remote on/off, over-temperature protection and trim capability. The HHS04-520 measures 2.40-by-2.28-by-0.43 inches and has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 100°C.

Unit pricing for the HHS04-520 is Rs.2870.21 ($62.60) each in quantities of 1,000.
