Sonarics Labs announced a new ClearSignal version, with new main features such as EPG (Electronic Programming Guide) and real time DAB recording to removable storage or to internal memory for later playback. These features are integrated with the recent capabilities of displaying a photo album and DAB MOT slide shows on a color LCD, while complementing and completing them.

According to the company, the EPG capability was released following the recent approval of DAB EPG standard by ETSI, under the auspices of WorldDAB. Using the advanced ClearSignal software, listeners will be able to scroll through forthcoming programs for each station, highlight program information on their radio display and schedule its automatic recording for listening at a later time.

"The fast growth of the digital entertainment market puts a lot of pressure on the manufacturers of DAB radios. With the addition of EPG and real-time recording we are building upon the success of the existing ClearSignal features for providing our customers an edge over their competition," commented Tanya Morales, chairman of Sonarics Labs.

ClearSignal software

ClearSignal is targeted at consumer electronic device manufacturers, belonging mainly to two groups—end product manufacturers, who build complete consumer products based on Sonarics provided reference design, and partners, who use Sonarics' reference design and software to build a ready-made module (subsystem) and sell these modules to other receiver manufacturers/OEMs/ODMs.

ClearSignal includes a comprehensive set of standard software decoders for multimedia, audio and video, towards a full DMB implementation. The main features of the ClearSignal are Eureka-147 DAB baseband decoder; digital decoder of analog FM; JPEG, photo album and DAB MOT slide show decoders; audio decoders (MPEG2, MP3, WMA, WAV); sound processing engine (Bass, Treble Equalizer and effects); peripherals controller (mono/color LCD, KB, tuner, removable storage, CD); graphic and database engines; elaborated, customizable user interface; and an alarm clock.
