Excelsys says the medically approved modular power supplies in its Xmite family are the industry's first field-configurable types of their kind. "No other power supply in the industry is capable of such end user flexibility and power density, " said Jim Oursler, VP of Excelsys.

Each 1U-high, 200W to 600W supply comprises a front-end chassis and up to four output modules (up to eight configurable outputs). The output modules offer single and dual outputs ranging from 1.5Vdc to 58Vdc and up to 50A (seven module versions). Users have a combination of DIP switches and trim pots to adjust output settings, allowing designers to configure requirements in the field while maintaining all safety approvals (UL/cUL60601-1, EN60601-1, and the CE Mark).

Outputs can be tied in parallel for more power or in series for higher voltages. Each output module offers status and control functions including remote sense, remote on/off, trim, power good and current sharing. The supplies feature universal AC input with active power factor correction; up to eight isolated and floating outputs; high efficiency operation up to 90 percent; and reduced heat dissipation for improved system reliability.

The supplies, measuring 10.25-by-3.5-by-1.59 inches, are priced as low as $242 each for a 400W, single-output supply in 100-piece quantities.
