Tektronix Inc. announced the addition of the High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) software option to its NetTek wireless RF field tester. The new option enables network providers to more easily diagnose HSDPA NodeB transmitter problems and effectively manage their 3G mobile communications networks.
NetTek HSDPA capabilities include demodulation measurements such as code domain power, pilot and sync power, scrambling code and EVM. The modulation detection functionality allows identification of the modulation type in use (QPSK or 16QAM); on-screen notification is provided when 16QAM is detected and the corresponding channels are represented in a color coded format.
The NetTek Tester is a rugged portable platform with multi-standard measurement capability. The NetTek fills the gap between expensive, full-compliance testing tools and low-cost instruments designed to perform only one measurement. The instrument's modular architecture supports a range of wireless RF measurements for standards including UMTS/W-CDMA, EDGE, GSM, cdma2000 1x EV-DO, cdma2000, cdmaOne (IS-95) and IS-136. The instrument's Windows-based user interface simplifies operation and minimizes training needs. The compact battery-powered tool, which weighs just over 12 lbs (4 kg), is lightweight and rugged for transport to remote sites.
