Wi-Fi Alliance has named the China National Telecommunication Metrology Station (CNTMS) as a Wi-Fi certification test laboratory. A sub-unit of the China Academy of Telecommunication Research (CATR), CNTMS has been authorized by the Alliance to provide certification testing services to Wi-Fi Alliance member companies.
The Wi-Fi Alliance's testing and certification programs ensure the interoperability of wlan products based on the ieee 802.11 wireless local area networking (WLAN) specification. CNTMS joins a worldwide network of eight Wi-Fi Alliance Authorized Test Laboratories worldwide, which operate as independent test facilities.
A product must undergo a rigorous set of interoperability tests to achieve certified status and be authorized to carry the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo. This helps ensure that products from various manufacturers will interoperate successfully. Consumer and enterprise buyers look for products bearing the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo mark of confidence and quality.
Wang Nan, deputy director of CNTMS, said, "As an independent third-party test house, we believe the Lab will facilitate wireless local area network deployment in China, and provide greater business opportunities for Chinese vendors."
