SunPower Corp., a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp., introduced two new high-efficiency inverters at last week's Solar Power 2005 show in Washington, D.C.

SunPower debuted inverters rated at 4,600W (208V) and 5,200W (240V) that complement and expand existing SunPower inverters rated at 2,000W (120V), 2,900W (208V) and 3,200W (240V). Each model is designed and tuned to specifically to match the electrical characteristics of the company's high-efficiency solar panels, thereby maximizing system energy production all year long, said the press release.

All of the company's inverters, which convert the electrical energy generated by the solar panels into the type of electricity used in homes, meet or exceed the highest efficiency rating in their class as reported by the independent testing program developed by the California Energy Commission. The devices are highly reliable, with no fans or thermal derating, and carry an unmatched 10-year standard product warranty, added SunPower.

"The new inverters will meet the needs of customers seeking larger solar systems," commented Tom Werner, SunPower CEO. "Our inverters are optimized for use with our high efficiency solar panels, enabling customers to maximize the amount of solar energy from their rooftops each day."
