M/A-COM, a business unit of Tyco Electronics, announced a new RoHS-compliant DECT power amplifier (PA) for applications that require dual power modes, high gain and small size at low cost. With its wide voltage operating range, the MAAPSS0076 is a dual mode PA that maximizes system performance while reducing DC power consumption. Designed for digitally enhanced cordless telephone (DECT) applications, this three-stage amplifier features an integrated power enable pin for accurate ramp control and a separate power mode pin for current savings in a low power mode state. A voltage compensation circuit is also included for applications where the amplifier supply voltage is unregulated and is directly connected to the battery.

In the high power mode, the PA generates 25.5dBm of output power while drawing 350mA of current. In the low power mode (LPM), the output power is 17dBm with a current of 130mA. The MAAPSS0076 has a typical power gain of 25.5dB with an operating voltage of 1.8V to 3.6V.

Available in a Pb-free 3mm 12-lead PQFN plastic package, the new PA is available from stock and is priced at 54 cents in quantities of 10,000.
