Hitachi Ltd has announced the opening of its Hitachi Global Solutions Center (GSC) in India, in alliance with Intelligroup and Satyam Computer Services. The facility will function as the global development and outsourcing hub for Hitachi's consulting, information systems and other solutions providers.

"The move to globalization is driving the need for a seamless global solution capability spanning systems development through operations," said Kazuo Furukawa, executive vice president and head of Hitachi's Information & Telecommunication Systems Group. "Hitachi's establishment of the Hitachi GSC in India leverages our partners' technical skills, English language capability, and experience in multinational projects. This is in the spirit of the recent India-Japan ICT Forum, established between the governments of Japan and India to promote more trade in the IT sector."

The Center will initially provide development, maintenance and support for Japanese and U.S.-based global companies, and will start with 200 employees with plans to increase the count to 1,000 people in the next two years.

"Hitachi Consulting has used a team approach that combines both on-site and off-shore to help our clients quickly realize a return on their IT investments for a number of years," said Michael Travis, president and COO of Hitachi Consulting. "The Hitachi GSC now gives us the scale to address the broader solutions needs of our large, global clients."
