Melexis inks deal with Sony to extend Time-of-Flight line-up

Melexis has entered into license agreement with Sony to expand the Time-of-Flight portfolio for automobile safety and infotainment markets. Sony has revealed that it has acquired SoftKinetic, a developer of sensor-to-software 3D gesture solutions including the patented DepthSenseRM Time-of-Flight sensor technology.

MLX75023

Melexis has been licensed under this technology for a number of years for products such as the MLX75023, which the company said is the world's first automotive Time-of-Flight sensor in production.

The products derived from this collaboration will be fabricated at Sony's wafer fabrication facility in image sensor technology hence supporting further its offering to customers worldwide looking for solutions in the area of gesture recognition, the company indicated.
